Hello Art of War Gaming Community! For the past 5 years, we have been using Teamspeak as our main method of VOIP communications. Through the years, we have tried to bridge the website with our Teamspeak. Teamspeak is an amazing application for voice communications. It also requires a lot of maintenance and upkeep. This does cost the community money. (roughly 10 dollars a month) As we move into the fall months, we will slowly transition our voice communications to Discord. Discord does integrate with out website extremely well through use of API and webhooks. As of today, we also support website registration/login via Discord. We have already started the process of integrating the chat with our website. In addition, you will see important post from our website directly in our Discord - #announcements channel. In fact, this is the first post that will appear since the integration. We know some of our members prefer Teamspeak and it is understandable that change is something we resist. In order to move our community forward and expand, we have made the tough decision to retire our Teamspeak server in October of this year. We will retain our GPL license in case we need to use it in the future. If you haven't done so, please join our discord with this invite link: https://discord.gg/RmPQDmb
Hello community, We wanted to let you know we have switched host to a new provider that utilizes different server technology. We are confident this will improve pagespeed and load times for our members. Please let us know if you notice a difference either way so we can address it.
Hello Art of War Gaming Community! First, let me say a big thank you to everyone who's joined our community. We started Art of War Gaming back in 2013 and never expected it to grow like it has. I also wanted to take the time to explain what we are and what we are not. We ARE a gaming community. We ARE NOT a clan/guild. Art of War Gaming CAN be represented as a guild/clan in a specific game. However; we are a community compromised of many players that play different games. We also are here to help support those smaller guild/clans that want to be in a larger community that can support them with services they need. (websites, teamspeak etc) Our "State of the Community" was started initially for our admins. It was designed to provide community information to the website admins and teamspeak admins. In the report, I would provide website, teamspeak, and donation information. This will be the first community update that is addressed to the entire community. As our community grows, I want each one of you to be more involved. This is our virtual home where we can interact with our guild/clan friends in our favorite games. Our growth has been a little slower than we wanted, but as they say, "Rome wasn't built in a day". I also want to take the time to send a special thank you the the people who watch over our community teamspeak. Without each one of you, I'd have a difficult time keeping the trolls at bay! So, let me dive right into it. Community: - Our community numbers have remained steady over the last several months. We have see an uptick in traffic to our website, but no interaction as of yet. Several members have registered an account on our website, but haven't really posted anything. On teamspeak the numbers remain steady. Our teamspeak is public, but has restrictions for public users. Admins of the teamspeak should have permissions to register any guest. If you are a teamspeak admin and can't register guest, please let me know and I'll get that fixed. Below is a graph of our teamspeak activity over the past week. As you can see, it does fluctuate. Our max users online to date is 34 and our average users online is about 28-32. For those guild leaders, please do encourage your guild members to use teamspeak. It is a great way to communicate with people while in game. - You may, or may not, have noticed that we recently did a total redesign of our community website. We also updated our community logo. The old logo served us from 2013 until this year and is being retired totally by the end of the month. The redesign goal was to make the website look modern and clean. We believe it will make us more competitive as a gaming community. If you have any thoughts/comments about the redesign/logo, please feel free to let us know! We value everyone's feedback. Did You Know? Our community website has the ability for a registered user to start his/her own group. It's easy! Just log in, click on the "More" menu item and select "Groups".
